Obituary for Ivan Dvorski

Ivan Dvorski
Although a year has come and gone since the passing of Ivica Dvorski on July 9, 2017, a year that has seemed to last forever and then, at times, gone in less than a blink of an eye, the loss of his presence remains real and heartfelt to the family that remains. With this passing of time happy memories are slowly replacing sadness and conversations are starting to turn to the lighter side of Ivica’s spirit that was continuously joyful, full of laughter and quick with a joke. His soul, his essence, will forever stay present if we continue to remember the person that he was and for those that knew him best, crack a smile as Ivica wasn’t fond of tears or heartache. Better yet, grab a fishing pole and catch a big one in his memory this summer as he was happiest when out on the lake with a fishing pole in hand. Ivica’s laughter was contagious, his generosity and kindness unmistakable and he will be forever missed by the people closest to him.

Ivica (Ivan) Dvorski passed away on July 9, 2017, at the Elisabeth Bruyère Hospital after many years of battling cancer. Ivica will forever be missed by his wife Gina, whose heart has been broken. He also leaves behind a loving son, Richard, his stepdaughter, Makiko, and his two grandchildren, Olivia and Lilian, who brightened his days and brought him much happiness. He was much loved by all members of his family and his lasting sense of humour, caring and gentle ways will be remembered and treasured as he will be missed so dearly.

Although Ivica was quick with a joke and a smile, he was a man of few heartfelt words, but many heartfelt actions for others, thinking first of his wife and assisting family before taking care of himself.

The family extends its heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the nurses that at the Elisabeth Bruyère Hospital who treated Ivan gently and respectfully during his short stay with them. Your gentle words and caring actions helped us with this most difficult situation and Ivica would have been very pleased to know what capable and caring hands soothed his discomfort and pain.

The family will provide further details of a remembrance in the coming weeks and seeks, in lieu of flowers and condolences, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
